It is located within Geita Region, about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s South East of the nearest point of Lake Victoria and 5 Km’s west of Geita town. POSITION: LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

WORKS FOR: CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER

QUALIFICATION: 
Diploma in Laboratory Technician

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: To maintain a healthy workforce and working conditions to achieve high
productivity and retain the social license to operate at GGM

DUTIES / ACOUNTABILITIES:
  1. Checking patient’s details by comparing clinical information supplied with the specimen/s to ensure that they correspond.
  2. Sorts specimen/s and prioritizes according to urgency.
  3. Deciding which equipment and technique to use in the analysis of specimen/s.
  4. Ensuring cleanliness of sensitive equipment and reusable items such as trays for analyzers.
  5. Scheduling regular calibration of the equipment to ensure the accuracy of the equipment.
  6. Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipments.
  7. Preparing the appropriate chemicals (media) for usage during clinical procedures.
  8. Performing biochemical and hematological investigations on body fluids with analytical equipment according to set procedure.

EXPERIENCE:
Candidate should have at least 3 years working experience and be registered with the Tanzanian

Medical Laboratory Scientists’ Association, Ministry of Health.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Be conversant with all healthy and safety principles and techniques 2. Be computer literate
  2. 3Be physically fit and hard working

Major Responsibilities;

  • Facilitate programme reflection/learning, documentation of best practices and most significant success stories are included in the reports and shared among the partners
  • Facilitate training, seminars and workshops on DM&E processes within the cluster
  • Facilitate smooth implementation of learning centers initiatives (CC, CP & Food Security) within the cluster
  • Provide monitoring support to the ADPs and grants/PNS projects to ensure compliance to set goal/targets and standards

Purpose of the position:

  • To provide technical support on matters of financial management in the cluster through analytical review of projects reports, risk assessment on activities being implemented, performance management of the projects within the cluster and provide timely and accurate feedback for management informed decision making.

  • Ensure that there is adequate cash management within the cluster and Bank reconciliations are always cleans.
  • Ensure that projects fixed assets are well managed within cluster as well as inventories.
  • Ensure that cluster payments are made on time and that they are supported with adequate backup as per FFM.
  • Ensure all procurement issues within the cluster receive appropriate attention, done as per policy & standards set and on timely manner
  • Review all Audit reports to establish key observations / recommendations by auditor and share the same for adequate implementation at the project. Follow up with projects on implementation status to ensure timely responses as per agreed standards and Non-recurring Audit issues
  • Conduct Monitoring and capacity building session on financial related matters within a cluster to finance and non finance staff.
  • Management of local partners; carry out finance capacity assessment for before engagement, conduct monitoring visits for review and capacity building.

It was established in January 1998 under section 3 (1) of Act No.8 of 1997, repelled by Act No. 12 of 2009. It was formally in category B Authorities and became fully autonomous with effect from 1 st July 2001. Being in category "A" means that the Authority is responsible for meeting all operational cost of the services rendered including replacement and investment costs. In this respect, the activities of Mbeya UWSA have specifically expanded. Geographical Information Systems Specialist

3.2 Key Result Areas
3.2.1 Major
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the successful candidate will be Head of Network Mapping and GIS Section primarily responsible for integrating various forms of geographical and non geographical data such as land demography, water supply and sewerage infrastructure, customer locations, customer data base, water intakes and pumping stations are mapped and integrated into a digital format.


3.2.2 Specific
To survey and create water networks maps
To survey and create sewerage networks maps
To survey, collect and locate customer's information in the map using GIS Software
To compile geographical data from a variety of sources including survey, field observation, satellite imagery, aerial photographs and existing maps.
To ensure compliance/linkage of different applications.
To communicate/coordinate with other GIS users in the water supply and sanitation sector or other sectors.
To train Mbeya UWSA staff on GIS applications.
To enter new map data through use of a digitiser or by direct input of coordinate information using the principles of cartography including coordinate systems, longitude, latitude, elevation, topography and map scales.
To operate and maintain GIS System hardware, software, plotter, digitizer, GPS, video camera and other project facilities.
To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Technical Manager


3.3 Qualifications and Experience
Holder of a Bachelor Degree or Advanced Diploma in Land Surveying & Planning/ Information Technology/Civil Engineering/Geography with Emphasis in GIS or should have pursued a certificate or diploma in GIS.
GIS concepts an analytical techniques including computerized mapping and digital data conversion, manipulation and analysis. Knowledge of GIS Software, tools and applications including but not limited to Arc GIS, Auto CAD Suit applications or Microsoft Office suite.
Minimum of two years work experience in a reputable organization. Experience with water utilities is an added advantage.
Physically capable of completing assigned tasks and responsibilities while complying with deadlines.
3.4 Age Limit:
Not above 35 years of age.

5.2 Key Result Areas
5.2.1 Specific
To train sewerage staff on how to use some sensitive equipment,
such as Closed Circuit Television, which is used inside the sewer line to analyse the extent of damaged pipes before declaring them to be
removed.
To make sure that all customers who are provided with sewer services pay their bills without delay.
To investigate cases of illegal sewerage connections and recommend rectification measures.
To compile daily, monthly, quarterly and annual sewerage operations and maintenance reports.
To inform the Sewer Cleaners and Artisans on issues which are likely to happen during working on the site.
To carry out all new sewerage connection according to professional specifications.
To repair all sewerage collapses promptly and professionally.
To make sure that before sewer cleaners enter inside the sewer trunk main adhere to safety regulations.
To collect all materials and working gears those are required for planned sewerage work.
To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Sewerage and Environmental Engineer.


Qualifications and Experience
FTC/Diploma in Civil / Sanitary/ Public Health/Environmental
Engineering from a recognised Technical College.
Computer Iiterate; Word/ExceI/Network design using CAD.
Must demonstrate ability and competence in the use of modern Survey equipments
Working experience as Land Surveyor is an added advantage. Physically capable of completing assigned tasks and responsibilities while complying with deadlines.
